Complex-Domain Pitch Estimation Algorithm for Narrowband Speech Signals

We propose a complex-domain pitch estimation algorithm for narrowband speech signals, which utilizes complex spectrum containing both amplitude and phase information. Traditional frequency-domain algorithms assume that signal has harmonic structure; they estimate by calculating the distance between adjacent peaks of corresponding to harmonics. However, only few can be detected from signals because their limited bandwidth, resulting in errors. In this article, differences harmonics are utilized as an additional cue estimation. The difference refers two-step successive analysis frames lowest-order other harmonics, is theoretically derived using pitch. When higher-order shifted theoretical value, it agrees with harmonic. Therefore, each candidate, proposed method calculates spectra combines them generate spectra. candidate correct, cumulative sum added same direction, emphasizes even signals.
